ABOUT THE COMPANY – HARRY CROSSLEY FOUNDATION
The Harry Crossley Foundation was formed just before Mr Harry Crossley died in 1968. The Foundation was formed with the aim of providing grants and bursaries to postgraduate students, pursuing all fields of study, except for Politics and Religion, at the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University.
The University of Cape Town (UCT) is one of the top academic tertiary institutions in South Africa. Their main mission is to produce individuals who portray excellent leadership qualities as well as strong social justice, and who will later play important roles in government, business, civil society, and industry in South Africa and Africa as a whole.
ABOUT THE HARRY CROSSLEY FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP – FIELDS COVERED
The Harry Crossley Foundation is inviting postgraduate students to apply for the Harry Crossley Foundation Research Scholarship, for the 2022 academic year.
The Fellowship is available for Honours, Master’s and Doctoral degree studies at the University of Cape Town, in ALL fields of study (except Religious Studies and Political Studies). Candidates who are registering at UCT for the first year of their intended degree, in 2022 may apply. The Foundation will award a limited number of fellowships, to students with strong academic merit.

MORE ABOUT THE HARRY CROSSLEY FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP – COVERAGE VALUE
The programme will be awarded for the following time frames and values:
- 1 year only at Honours level, to the value of R95 000.
- 2 years at Masters level, to the value of R100 000. Available for the first and second year of registration for the Master’s degree, and renewable for the second year of registration for the master’s degree depending on satisfactory academic performance and availability of funds (renewal is not guaranteed).
- 3 years at a Doctoral level, to the value of R140 000. Available for the first, second and third year of registration for the Doctoral degree, and renewable for the second and third year of registration depending on satisfactory academic performance and availability of funds (renewal is not guaranteed).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HARRY CROSSLEY FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen OR a South African permanent resident
- You must intend on pursuing full-time studies towards a research-related Honours, Master’s or Doctoral Degree in 2022
- You must be registering to study at the University of Cape Town, for the first year of your qualification in 2022
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% aggregate (GPA) for your undergraduate or Honours degree
- You must NOT intend on studying part-time
- You must NOT be in your 4th year of study towards an undergraduate degree
- You must NOT be studying towards any of these qualifications: LLB, postgraduate certificate and postgraduate diploma and for disciplines in Religious Studies and Political Studies
- You must NOT be employed for more than 20 hours per week in 2022

You will be required to submit copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- Letter of application (Master’s and Doctoral candidates must also include a statement to undertake as a condition of award, to organise and plan at least 1 seminar programme per degree, relating to your field of study) (maximum: 1 A4 page)
- Academic transcripts (certified copies only – do not attach certificates)
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum: 1 A4 page)
- 2 letters from academic references who have taught or supervised you at University
- Proof of acceptance for study by Academic department (proof of that you will be accepted, or provisionally accepted)
Note: Applicants must compile the completed application form and the supporting documents in to 1 pdf document.
