Gemalto Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd was founded in 1989. The Company’s line of business includes providing computer processing and data preparation services.
In 2019, Thales acquired Gemalto, and integrated it into Thales’ existing digital assets, forming a new division named Digital Identity and Security (DIS).
ABOUT THE GEMALTO BURSARY – FIELDS COVERED
Gemalto is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
With the launch of the 2025 bursary scheme, the company aims to attract exceptional young talent to the organisation.

MORE ABOUT THE GEMALTO BURSARY – EXPENSES COVERED & SELECTION
The bursary will provide full cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, registration fees and exam fees. The bursary will also cover accommodation in a single room at the university the student is studying at or accommodation of the equal amount. Finally, the bursary will also provide cover for meals, as determined by the university.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and will undergo psychometric testing if required. Candidates will also be subject to a criminal, credit and qualification verification.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GEMALTO BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen by birth
- You must have completed Matric with a minimum overall average of 70%
- You must be studying full time, towards an Undergraduate degree qualification within a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field
- You must be studying at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
- Preference will be given to female students from previously disadvantaged population group (Black, Coloured and Indian)

- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
