Matric Results 2024 – All you need to know

Now that the festive season is coming to a close, Matriculants of 2024 are looking forward to getting their NSC Matric results, which they may use to apply for further studies or in their job applications.

If you wrote NSC Matric exams in 2024 (or are the parent, guardian, or loved one of a 2024 Matriculant), you will be glad to know that results will be available to the public on 14 January 2025, according to the Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube.

How and where to get 2024 Matric Results

Matric results can either be accessed in person, online or via SMS/ USSD code.

  • In person: official statements of results can be collected from the school or exam centre where the exams were written, on 14 January 2025, at 08:00.
  • Online: Students may visit the Department of Basic Education website, from 06:00. To access their results, students must login with their exam number.
  • Mobile SMS/ USSD: Lastly, students can access their results via their mobile phone, in either of these ways:
    • SMS: Send your exam number to 35658. Wait for an SMS with further instructions and follow the steps given. SMSes are charged at R1.50 each, and free SMS bundles do not apply.
    • USSD: Dial 12035658# on your phone. Wait for further prompts to register and access your results on the result release date. USSD usage costs 50c per 20 seconds, and free airtime does not apply.

Please note that the USSD service only applies to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations and not the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations.

What should I do after receiving my NSC Matric Results

After you’ve collected your Matric certificate, you can start applying for bursaries (although you can also apply without your results while you are currently in Matric). You can also attach a certified copy of your NSC Certificate with your CV when applying for jobs or learnerships.

Can I apply for a re-mark or re-check of my Matric exam scripts?

Yes, you can register at the school or district office in the province or online, on the Department of Basic Education website. You may also find instructions on the back of your Statement of Results.

You must register for a re-mark or re-check by no later than 31 January 2025, and will be subject to a fee of R116 for a re-mark and R29 for a re-check, per subject.

Who can I contact if I have any queries or concerns about my Matric Results?

If there is anything you need to query about your NSC results, please be sure to submit your query within 30 days after the release of results (and not later). Visit the Department of Basic Education website for contact details.

If your personal details (full name and ID number) have been printed incorrectly on your statement of results, make sure to report it for correction to the Department by no later than 21 February 2025.
