Huawei Seeds for the Future South Africa Programme in China 2024
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME PROVIDER – HUAWEI
Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is a Chinese multinational technology corporation, founded in 1987 and headquartered in China. When the company was first formed, it focused on the manufacturing of phone switches, but has since expanded its business to include designing, developing, and selling telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics. Today, the company serves a global customer base of over 3 billion people, employs around 197 000 staff members, and has operations in more than 170 countries and regions.
In November 2016, South Africa marked a significant milestone by joining Huawei’s esteemed global training initiative. In collaboration with the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) (previously the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS)), Huawei facilitated the inaugural group of 10 South African students to undergo international training in Beijing and Shenzhen, China. The training encompassed cutting-edge technologies including 5G, LTE, and cloud computing, with participants gaining exclusive access to Huawei’s state-of-the-art laboratories.
The “Seeds for the Future” program is a comprehensive training initiative that not only focuses on technical skills but also includes enriching cultural experiences. Selected from top-tier tertiary institutions across South Africa, the students chosen by the DTPS were exceptional in their fields. This longstanding partnership between Huawei and the DTPS is dedicated to enhancing and developing ICT professionals through advanced training and upskilling initiatives.
