ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – EMEDIA
eMedia Holdings Limited is an investment company active in South Africa’s media industry. It owns and operates e.tv, a widely available free-to-air commercial television station, and eSat.tv, which runs eNCA, a 24-hour dedicated news channel. Additionally, its subsidiary Platco Digital manages Openview, a free-to-air satellite TV service. The company also offers eVOD, an on-demand video platform that enables users to stream movies and shows on any device, anytime.
ABOUT THE EMEDIA BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The eMedia Group is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields:
- Animation
- Digital Media Technology
- Electronic Media
- Film & Television and related qualifications
- Graphic Design
- Marketing
- Media Research
- Radio Production
- Sound Engineering
- Television Production
Note: the bursary will NOT fund Performing Arts / Acting / Music and Dance studies.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EMEDIA BURSARY
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be between 17 and 35 years old
- You must have completed Matric with a minimum overall average of 65%
- You must be studying or intend on studying full-time towards a qualification in one of the fields listed above, in 2025
- You must be studying or have been accepted / provisionally accepted to study at an accredited University in South Africa
- You must be passionate about pursuing a career in the Media industry
- You must have a total household income of less than R600 000 per annum
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE EMEDIA BURSARY

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate
- Proof of acceptance from a South African university
- Breakdown of academic fees per annum
- Parents or guardians proof of household income (recent payslips or letters of employment if employed, and latest 3 months’ bank statements (not older than three months) for each parent or guardian)
- Details of any other private or public bursary funding received, if applicable: commitment letter stating the funding source and coverage amount
