ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – AISCT

The American International School of Cape Town (AISCT) is a private, not-for-profit co-educational institution. The AISCT was founded in 1997 and is located in Cape Town, in the heart of Constantia Hills with Table Mountain National Park towering in the background.

AISCT follows curriculum out of the USA and offers College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses in the high school, including the AP Capstone Program. The school year begins in August and ends in June each year, in line with the northern hemisphere calendar.
 

ABOUT THE AISCT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The AISCT is inviting students to apply for their High School Scholarship programme, for the 2025 academic year.

The AISCT High School Scholarship is for students entering Grade 9 in 2025, who are interested in pursuing the prestigious Advanced Placement (AP) course of study and completing an American High School Diploma at the American International School of Cape Town. Classes will begin in August 2025.

The scholarship is aimed at academically talented South African students with limited financial means.

MORE ABOUT THE AISCT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & DURATION

The scholarship will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fee, admission fee, capital fee, Macbook, textbooks, AP fees, SAT fees and up to six university application fees.

The scholarship will NOT provide cover for the following expenses: school uniform, PE uniform, meals and accommodation.

Scholarships may cover the full duration of the student’s time at AISCT, on condition that they remain in good standing at the school. Scholarships may be revoked for poor academic performance or behavior.

Students will be selected based on 2 main criteria: merit and proven financial need.

As part of the selection process, all applications will undergo financial need checks, after completing a finance disclosure form including tax statement and IRP5.

Applications will be screened by a scholarship committee and will be awarded to selected recipients by no later than 4 April 2025.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AISCT SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must have been born between 1 August 2010 and 1 September 2011
  • You must have completed Grade 8
  • You must be entering Grade 9 or or have completed one semester of Grade 9
  • You must reside in Cape Town or be able to live in Cape Town for the duration of the scholarship (with family or guardians)
  • You must have proven financial need
  • You must be fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • You must have high academic achievement in English language curriculum
  • You must have strong leadership skills and commitment to service
  • You must agree to abide by the school rules and policies as stated in the AISCT Parent-Student Handbook

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE AISCT SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants will be required to Register an Account before they can Login and apply.

Enter “www.zabursaries.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the AISCT High School Scholarship.
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • Student’s birth certificate
  • Student’s vaccination record
  • Parents or guardians ID Documents
  • Full school reports for Grade 7 and Grade 8 and any available term reports for Grade 9
  • Email address of current school for completion of student referral form
  • Tax Statement or IRP5
  • Written tasks (Personal Narrative and Educational CV)
  • Personal Narrative: introduce yourself to the Scholarship Committee, whereby you show your personality, personal hobbies or aspirations, or any unusual experiences you may have had. This must be uploaded to the Documents section of the enrolment platform, must be named in the following format “Personal Narrative_Student’s Name”, and must be a maximum of 250 words.
  • Educational CV: this is where you list extracurricular activities, jobs held, special study projects, or activities in which you have been involved in the past two years in your school, community, or personal pursuits. Identify your role in each. List academic awards or special recognition you have received and the nature and source of each. This should reflect your commitment to and involvement in your community. This must be uploaded to the Documents section of the enrolment platform, must be named in the following format “Educational CV_Student’s Name”, and must be a maximum of 500 words. This must be in a CV format.

Note: answers to the Personal Narrative and Educational CV must be typed in a font that is legible and no smaller than 12 point and double-spaced. Alternatively, answers may be handwritten on lined paper and must be neat and legible. All answers must be unique, grammatically correct and demonstrate strong thought development and critical thinking.
