ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – GOLDEN ARROW

Golden Arrow Bus Services (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1861 as a major public transport bus service operator within the city of Cape Town, commuting passengers throughout the Metropolitan Cape Peninsula and Cape Flats.

Owned by Hosken Consolidated Investments Limited, a South African holding company, GABS currently operates more than 1000 buses on over 1300 routes.

Everything Golden Arrow does is guided by set of 6 principles, known as the “Golden Arrow Way”, which includes: Service Quality, Affordability, Reliability, Passenger-centered, Community-oriented and Developing Talent.

The Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 20225 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded to for BSc Computer Science studies.

The bursary will provide coverage for the following study expenses: tuition fees, transportation, accommodation (per the actual costs charged by the university) and a monthly allowances (a stipend to cover incidental and reasonable costs, of R4 000 per month or as GABS shall determine from time to time).

Bursary holders will be required to work for Golden Arrow Bus Services once they have graduated – one year of work for each year of funding received.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to an interview – if you do not receive any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GOLDEN ARROW BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be studying towards a BSc Computer Science
  • You must be entering your 2nd or higher year of study in 2025
  • You must have a combined household income of NOT more than R400 000 per annum OR NOT more than R600 000 per annum if living with a disability
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • You must be willing to work for Golden Arrow for the number of years that were funded

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE GOLDEN ARROW BUS SERVICES BURSARY

Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of documents below to apply.
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Previous academic transcripts (certified copy)
  • Proof of enrolment: confirmation from the educational institution (on institution letterhead)
  • Proof of Address
  • Parents or guardians proof of household income (3 months recent bank statement or latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed)
  • Recommendation letters from academic or professional referees
  • If disabled: disability assessment report
  • If orphaned: death certificate of parents
