The Wits School of Law, at the University of the Witwatersrand, is inviting students to apply for the Harry Schwarz Scholarship, for the 2025 academic year.

Scholarships will be awarded for BCom Law and BA Law studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HARRY SCHWARZ WITS SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

• You must be a citizen of any Sub-Saharan African country
• You must be studying at the University of the Witwatersrand
• You must be registered and studying towards a BCom Law or BA Law qualification
• You must be in your 2nd year of study in 2025
• You must have an excellent academic record, with a minimum overall average of 70%
• You must be in financial need

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE HARRY SCHWARZ WITS SCHOLARSHIP

(Insert the words “Harry Schwarz Scholarship 2025 – Your Full Name” in the email subject line).

Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of documents below to apply.
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your email application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

• ID document / passport (certified copy)
• Academic transcripts from the end of the first year
• Fee statement
• Proof of financial need (parents/ guardians or own proof of income: latest payslips if employed/ affidavit/ proof of social grant or pension if applicable)
• Statement about yourself and your future plans, including information about overcoming any personal hardship, if any (1 page)
