ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – CCIEEC, INSETA & LGSETA
The Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre (CCIEEC), based in Midrand, Johannesburg, is a dedicated institution fostering cultural and educational ties between China and South Africa. As an independent organization, CCIEEC specializes in promoting the richness of Chinese culture, facilitating Mandarin language learning, and enhancing educational collaboration.
By serving as a bridge between the two nations, the Centre creates opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange and academic partnerships. CCIEEC offers a variety of programs tailored to individuals and institutions, enabling them to engage with Chinese traditions, language, and educational innovations while supporting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.
The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) is a statutory body in South Africa responsible for facilitating skills development and training within the local government sector. Its mission is to ensure that municipalities and related organizations are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver efficient public services. LGSETA plays a pivotal role in supporting workforce development, fostering leadership, and enabling sustainable service delivery across communities.
The Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA) is a similarly vital organization dedicated to driving skills development in South Africa’s insurance industry. INSETA aims to enhance the sector’s workforce by providing training opportunities, funding, and resources for employees and learners. Focused on promoting transformation, innovation, and excellence, INSETA empowers individuals to contribute effectively to the growth and competitiveness of the insurance sector. Both SETAs are committed to building a skilled, inclusive, and productive workforce.
ABOUT THE INSETA & LGSETA INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre (CCIEEC), in partnership with the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) and the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), are inviting students to apply for their International Scholarship for studies in China, for the 2025 academic year.
Students will study in China, towards a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (with specific focus on Cross Boarder E-commerce, Internet of Things Application Technology, Computer Technology and Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology).
540 scholarships will be awarded, for Diploma (3 years) and Bachelors Degree (4 years) studies within the following fields:
- Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology
- Computer Technology
- Construction Engineering Technology
- Cross-border E-commerce
- Electromechanical Technology
- Intelligent Manufactory
- International Chinese Language
- Internet of Things Application Technology
- Marketing
- Mechanical and Electrical Integration Technology
- Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation
- Mechanical Product Inspection Technology
- Mechatronic Engineering Technology
- Municipal Engineering Technology
- New Energy Automobile Technology

MORE ABOUT THE INSETA & LGSETA INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & SELECTION
The scholarship will provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, visa applications, flights (annual return flights for the period of studies), domestic transportation in China related to studies informed by the institution only, hospital insurance, shared accommodation and an allowance.
Students will be required to pay for the following: passport (approximately R600), Police Clearance Certificate (approximately R180), medical examination (approximately R2 000) and any other additional costs.
All applications will be evaluated and approved by the CCIEEC, LGSETA and INSETA.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INSETA & LGSETA INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be between 18 and 25 years old
- You must have completed Matric before 2024
- You must be keen to study internationally, in China
- You must be interested in pursuing studies within one of the fields listed above
- You must meet the minimum requirements for your selected programme of study (see page 2-5 of the INSETA & LGSETA Scholarship advert (.pdf)
- You must be willing to commit to the full programme duration in China
- You must be currently unemployed
- You must be willing to adapt to a new cultural and academic environment
- You must have NO criminal record
- You must be medically fit for international travel (HIV, TB and Syphilis negative) according to the rules of the People’s Republic of China – a medical exam will take place before departure to China
