ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – RED BULL

Red Bull is a leading energy drink brand produced and owned by the Austrian company, Red Bull GmbH. As of 2020, it dominates the energy drink market with a 43% share and stands as the third most valuable soft drink brand globally, following Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

The brand made its debut in the South African market in 1997, a decade after the inaugural can was introduced in Austria in 1987. This marked the birth of a completely new product category: energy drinks.

Currently, Red Bull is active in 175 countries, selling over 11.5 billion cans each year with an upward trajectory. Red Bull South Africa plays a significant role in the company’s expansion, employing more than 140 people across four regional offices. ABOUT THE RED BULL BURSARY PROGRAMME

Red Bull is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded to students playing sport for the university they are attending.
Students must be pursuing Undergraduate degrees in ANY field, at selected universities: UWC, UCT, UJ, CPUT and RU.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RED BULL BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be passionate about sport – cricket, soccer, rugby or sport in general
  • You must be playing sport at University
  • You must be registered for an Undergraduate degree
  • You must be passing academically
  • You must be studying at any of the following participating Universities: University of the Western Cape (UWC), University of Cape Town (UCT), University of Johannesburg (UJ), Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and Rhodes University (RU)
