Ekapa is a leading diamond mining company aimed at establishing a sustainable future for all people, communities, and the environment. The company uses the latest mining technology to perform a comprehensive rehabilitation programme in its operations located in Kimberly and the Northern Cape. Ekapa mines tailings in dumps that resulted from previous mining activities, backfilling old mine pits leading to the rehabilitation caused by environmental damage. The company prides itself on mining some of the best quality Kimberly South African diamonds which are known for being sustainable for the environment.

ABOUT THE EKAPA HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Ekapa is inviting students to apply for their High School Scholarship programme, for the 2024 academic year.

The scholarship programme is aimed at underprivileged students entering Grade 10 to 12, who are residing within the mine’s labour-sending area of Frances Baard District Municipality (Northern Cape).

Through this, Ekapa hopes to give these students the opportunity to achieve their academic goals and become well rounded individuals.

MOREABOUT THE EKAPA HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED

The scholarship award will cover partial sponsorship for following expenses: school fees, textbooks, stationary, uniform and sporting/ cultural activities. Expenses will be covered up to a specific, allocated amount.

Through this, Ekapa hopes to provide the youth of the country with the necessary skills and opportunities to acquire qualifications, increase their knowledge and skills, and establish a solid foundation for a career within the mining sector.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EKAPA HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be entering Grade 10, Grade 11 or Matric in 2024
  • You must reside within the local community of Frances Baard District Municipality
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in your previous exam
  • You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in Mathematics and Science
  • You must attend a local school
  • You must demonstrate academic excellence
  • You must engage in extra-curriculars, sports and/ or culture
  • You must be in financial need
  • You must have a recommendation from your school principal

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE EKAPA SCHOLARSHIP

Students who meet all of the above criteria, can apply by submitting clear copies of the following supporting documentation (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
